Ancient Kingdom Egyptian Spearman

Pedia text :

"He carries his food and water on the shoulder, like a donkey, the backbone broken. He drinks foul water.
In front of the enemy he is no more than a quivering bird. Back to Egypt, he is like an old piece of worm-eaten wood."
This quote by a famous Egyptian scribe to his son in a book where he descibes the hardness of all other jobs than scribe
might not be the most objective description but it certainly holds some truth.
Pharahos depended heavily on mercenaries for war, and apart from the elite chariot and bowmen, the Egyptians troops were
mostly made of poorly equipped and trained levy, whose effect was more psychological (their mass) than effective in combat.

A burnt-tipped spear and a small wood shield were the only equipment of the levy of the Ancient Kingdoms, the head-cloth
appearing much later. The shield sometimes carried an eye hole in its top center for a look out.
